Edinburgh

Forming the base for our UK clinical research trials unit, our Edinburgh office has been established on its current site close to the New Town area since 1993.

Roles

We have over 140 people in the unit, 80 actually based in the Edinburgh office. Their roles involve working with doctors and nurses in the community and hospitals to produce clinical trial data, as well as interactions with our marketing teams, prior to the approvals and launches of new products.

Core Function

As well as having clinical research as its core function, our Edinburgh office is also a point of contact for our Scottish sales team, nursing team and the Parliamentary and Industry Affairs Manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Important Market

Scotland is an important market for AstraZeneca, with its close proximity to world-renowned medical schools and institutions and access to a large scientific skills base. Currently, we conduct almost 25% of all our UK clinical trials in Scotland.

We are also actively engaged with the Scottish Parliament and other key health organisations and policy makers to identify areas of opportunity and partnership, addressing health inequality and health promotion as well as treatment options.

Additionally, we support a variety of other activities in Scotland, such as sponsorship and partnership arrangements with the National Health Service.
