To help create a better environment for children and adults with
cystic fibrosis during their time in hospital, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, in
conjunction with AstraZeneca, is pleased to announce the launch of the Patient
Care Plus Programme on the first day of Cystic Fibrosis Awareness
Week.
"We all know how stretched resources are, and often a
non-essential clinical item is not within the budget," said Rosie Barnes, chief
executive of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. "However, a few lower priority items
such as a new television, a video, pictures for walls, games or books can go a
long way to improving time spent in hospital. The Patient Care Plus Programme
aims to help cystic fibrosis units buy items like these."
All cystic fibrosis teams are invited to apply for a donation
from the Patient Care Plus Programme Fund for their units. "AstraZeneca is
delighted to support this worthwhile scheme", said Steven Gray, AstraZeneca. "I
hope the nurses and therapists, who have such pivotal roles in cystic fibrosis
care, take this opportunity to apply for something their units need to help
improve quality of life for their patients."
Cystic fibrosis units should receive a letter about the
programme during Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Week (8-16 April). All cystic
fibrosis teams need to do to apply is complete the attached application form
and return it to the Secretariat address.
If units do not receive a letter and application form, they
should contact the Patient Care Plus Programme Secretariat, c/o Ruder Finn,
ISIS House, 74 New Oxford Street, London WC1A 1BL.
