A challenge has gone out for local students to design this
year's Christmas card for a local company with the winning design being sent to
all corners of the globe.AstraZeneca R & D Charnwood, Loughborough's medicines
research company despatches around 7,000 Christmas cards every year to
colleagues, customers, suppliers and friends around the world. The company's
policy has always been to use a local illustration and artist for the card and
this year's competition to find the picture it wants has gone to students aged
16 years or older at local schools and colleges."We have given the students the challenge of designing a
suitable card which has a theme of Charnwood or medicines research or both,"
said Gill Hilsdon, AstraZeneca's Public Relations Manager. "In previous years,
we have had some first-class illustrations and I have no doubt that this year
will be the same."The chosen design for this year's card will win the artists a
£100 box of water colours, while the school attended by the winner will
also receive £200 and there are runner-up prizes of water colours valued
at £75 & £50.Ends
