This year's Shepshed 10K race and Family Fun Run brought out the
usual large number of competitors who completed the course in dry but heavy
conditions following the recent rains.Sponsoring this year's Fun Run was Loughborough's medicines
research and development company AstraZeneca R & D Charnwood which in the
last few years has been the main sponsor of the 10K race.Apart from its sponsorship donation of £750 AstraZeneca
was in obvious evidence among the runners with almost 70 staff members taking
part in the two runs. The Shepshed races have been held for several years, becoming
one of the prime fixtures in the local calendar. The event has raised many
thousands of pounds for local charities, last year's competition realising
£2,500 of which £1,500 was given to the Roecliffe on the Move
Appeal.Ends
