company, AstraZeneca R&D Charnwood will take its name to all corners of the
world and, at the same time, the Mayor of Charnwood's Charity Appeal will be
given a £1,000 cash injection.Every Christmas the company sends around 5,000 greetings cards
to customers, suppliers, friends and colleagues around the world with a
competition for its design thrown open to 6th formers at local schools. This
year more than 50 entries were sent in and after lengthy consideration, a group
of staff chose a card designed by a Loughborough High School student.
The students awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes along with other
highly commended entries were invited to AstraZeneca's facility together with
family members to receive their prizes from the Deputy Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr
Neville Bird. In addition, the winner's school also benefited with AstraZeneca
handing over a donation of £200. "Once again we have been astonished by the youngsters' artistic
designs and it has been a really hard job to pick out a winner," said Gill
Hilsdon, the company's Public Relations Manager. "Now this very attractive card
will be winging its way around the globe to take greetings from Loughborough to
our thousands of friends."
