AstraZeneca helps group to make HeadwaySupport for local people with a brain injury, their carers and
families, is provided by Headway, a charity which is based in Leicester but
which holds a fortnightly meeting for people in the Loughborough
area.
Although partly funded by Social Services, the Charity relies
heavily on donations from local individuals and companies. Now Loughborough's
medicines research company AstraZeneca R&D Charnwood has stepped in to
cover the cost of a new workbench, tools and consumable materials for the local
group.."The Headway Charity provides a vital service to local people
who have suffered from a brain injury, advising and helping them, their
families and carers in often difficult circumstances, to achieve rehabilitation
within their own community and, wherever possible, to return to employment,"
said Gill Hilsdon, AstraZeneca's Public Relations Manager. In addition to the group meetings where activities include arts
and crafts, photography, computer skills and gardening, an Outreach Support
Worker visits members unable to attend in their own homes on a regular basis.
Occasional activity holidays are also arranged.Anyone who can spare time to help Headway with fund raising or
working as a volunteer or wishing to make a donation can get details from the
Charity on 0116 273 9763.Ends
