Nick Baker, popular Wildlife Television Presenter, will be launching 'Whose Water' Science Year project in the Green Room at the Education Centre in Paignton Zoo at 11.30am on Wednesday 20th February 2002.

This unique concept for National Science Year has been organised and supported by a group of organisations (AstraZeneca, the National Marine Aquarium, the Environment Agency, Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, SETPOINT for Devon and Cornwall and Paignton Zoo Environmental Park) who have formed a partnership to put together this joint project to run throughout Science Year.

The focus of the project is an open competition for all ages to investigate to the simple task of washing teeth..

Nick Baker says, "Water is a finite resource, we take it for granted. Drop by drop this competition makes us think how much we waste in our daily lives." Nick Baker will be judging the entries and looking for creative presentations and innovative investigations. Winners will be invited, as their prize, to be a scientist for the day at one of the partner organisations - a unique opportunity.

At the same time, each of the partners will be running separate events throughout the year with supporting projects, all with a watery theme.

Whose Water will not only be promoted by the partners but also be distributed through schools, colleges, libraries, and other organisations throughout the south west and nationally through the National Science Year website, educational media and more.
