Daffodils are blooming for AstraZeneca and Marie Curie Cancer Care

A spectacular Show Garden at this year's RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park has been designed by the award-winning team from Summers Gardens with major sponsorship by AstraZeneca and the benefiting charity being Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The theme of the garden is 'Hope Springs' and is based on the Marie Curie symbol ' the Daffodil ' the universal symbol of Hope and Renewal. When daffodils come into bloom, winter is over , spring is on the way and life seems brighter. This feeling of hope that the daffodil brings makes it the perfect emblem to represent the improved quality of life offered to people by Marie Curie Nurses and Centres.

Last autumn, a Marie Curie Field of Hope of daffodils was planted at the Macclesfield Site of AstraZeneca and this is now in full bloom. Employees at the site raised £200 in donations from the planting of the bulbs.

Wendy Priest, Community Affairs, AstraZeneca and Jane Wilkinson from Marie Curie are pictured amongst the daffodils.

Although AstraZeneca is the major sponsor of the Garden 'Hope Springs' at the RHS Flower Show at Tatton, a further partner is sought to sponsor the construction of a series of large metal daffodils that will be a major feature of the Show Garden. These dramatic daffodils will find a permanent home within Marie Curie Cancer Care at one or more of their 10 hospice centres.

Anyone interested in supporting this exciting project, please contact Jane Wilkinson, Community Fundraising Manager at Marie Curie on 0161 2552800. Come and see us at the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park on 17-21 July.
