Wilmslow Round Table has received a donation of £1,500 from AstraZeneca to acknowledge their fundraising for St Ann's Hospice in Cheadle.

The Round Table organised a charity bonfire and firework display, the event raised a spectacular £16,500 which has been distributed to over 10 local charities. The main beneficiary of the event in 2001 was St Ann's Hospice who have received £7,500 towards their work in caring for the terminally ill.

The donation was given as an Award to staff at AstraZeneca in Alderley Park who entered the Company's Matched-Funding Award Scheme and who fundraise for Wilmslow Round Table.

To qualify for an award, a group of three or more employees must aim to raise at least £1,000, which could then be matched by the Company. Awards are granted when each employee makes a personal effort that contributes to the fundraising target, by organising an event or by participating in fundraising.

Over 30 local charities and organisations have so far benefited from the AstraZeneca Matched-Funding Awards Scheme.
