Mysoline Press Statement

LONDON, 10th October 2003 - AstraZeneca UK today demonstrated its strong commitment to patients with CNS disorders with the announcement that we will be able to further extend the supply of Mysoline (primidone) within the UK through until the end of 2006.

In parallel, AstraZeneca is continuing to aggressively pursue opportunities that will allow us to divest Mysoline to an alternative manufacturer, ensuring continued supply of Mysoline.

No action is currently required by physicians.  AstraZeneca is aware of the role that Mysoline, indicated for epilepsy and essential tremor, plays in the lives of patients and further guidance will follow as required.

AstraZeneca is continuing to communicate with the Association of British Neurologists, epilepsy and essential tremor experts, as well as the Department of Health, to ensure that the concerns of all parties are considered as we work toward a patient focused resolution.
