OFFICIAL OPENING MARKED BY CHARITY DONATION
The official opening today (June 2) of a new £24 million laboratory at AstraZeneca’s site in Macclesfield, Cheshire has also brought a boost for a charity.  To mark the opening of the Large Scale Laboratory (LSL) a cheque for £1,000 was presented to Marie Curie Cancer Care, one of the AstraZeneca Cheshire sites’ adopted charities for 2004. The presentation was made by Bryan Mobbs, AstraZeneca Vice President, Process Research and Development to Jane Wilkinson of Marie Curie Cancer Care.  More

AZ listed in 'Top 100' Corporate Responsibility Survey
AstraZeneca has been listed 38th out of the 'Top 100' in one of the UK's leading Corporate Responsibility surveys. The Corporate Responsibility Index measures the various impacts that UK companies have upon society and their environment. The Index reviews companies by industry sector and this year's results have revealed that the Food and Drug Retailers have remained the leading performers. The results from the survey were featured in this week's Sunday Times - the Companies that Count Supplement. Being included in the Index illustrates that the company has taken a systematic approach to dealing with its environmental and social impacts, and recognises the need to involve key stakeholders.  More

AstraZeneca Supports New Outreach and Mentoring Initiative for Underpriviliged Students
AstraZeneca is pleased to announce that it is donating £100,000 to the Brightside Trust, a charity that aims to help disadvantaged young people gain access to medicine and the healthcare professions.  The funding will be provided over three years and includes a one-year secondment to the organisation to work on its' Pathways to Medicine projects.  More

AstraZeneca recalls specific batches of Pulmicort and Bricanyl pMDI in UK
AstraZeneca are recalling specific batches of its asthma medications Pulmicort (budesonide) pMDI (pressurised metered dose inhaler) and Bricanyl (terbutaline) pMDI.  This is a precautionary measure due to a small number of inhalers failing to operate or needing a higher than normal pressure to actuate.  More
